Third Week

This week nothing much had changed. I added new water to the aquarium I have no idea where all the water is going. Oh well. I found a new organism called a Paramecium bursaria. This was green in color I have a picture to follow soon. Also a food pellet was added to my aquarium. Here is the information
"Atison's Betta Food" made by Ocean Nutrition, Aqua Pet Americas, 3528 West 500 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84104. Ingredients: Fish meal, wheat flower, soy meal, krill meal, minerals, vitamins and preservatives. Analysis: Crude Protein 36%; Crude fat 4.5%; Crude Fiber 3.5%; Moisture 8% and Ash 15%.
I observed more of the same organisms as before. There was more activity around the food pellet than anywhere else in the aquarium.

Second week

So Elliot is now two weeks old eek how sweet!!! When I observed my Micro Aquarium not much had changed. The water level had been reduced but I fixed it by adding normal water. I found several of the same organisms again. I also took some pictures and will post those as soon as I find out what they are. I found several more organisms residing at the bottom of the tank than were there last week. I also found two new organisms which I will identify and post pictures of. One was a Vorticella i think. He reacted to the shock waves produced when I move the Micro Aquarium.

my micro-aquarium named Elliot

In my botany lab the other day I made a Micro-Aquarium which I named Elliot. To make the aquarium I used two pieces of microscope slides glued together with a silicone glue. I then added water from the water source number four. I added the mud and water from the top, middle and bottom of the dish. The information on where the water is from is listed below. Holston River along John Sevier Hwy under I 40 Bridge Partial shade exposure Holston River water Shed N36 00.527 W83 49.549 823 ft 10/10/2010

Along with the water from this source I added two different plants as decoration. I observed many different organisms in my micro-aquarium. One was translucent and was what looked like a large body with a flagella type tail at the end. It may have been a Vorticele. I also observed a long, yellowish sausage shaped organism That moved quite slowly. Other than those two organisms not much else was in my micro-aquarium. I observed the plants and the mud at the bottom of the tank but nothing was really there.
